JourneyLite of Houston Receives Center of Excellence Accreditation
Date:6/18/2009

n, each facility undergoes an onsite verification by experienced bariatric surgeons, who review the center's structure, process, and quality of data using the current ACS Bariatric Surgery Center Network Accreditation Program Manual as a guideline in conducting the survey. High-quality surgical care requires documentation using reliable measurements of outcomes. Consequently, accredited bariatric surgery centers are required to report their outcomes data to the ACS Bariatric Surgery Database. The JourneyLite surgery facility focuses on laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding and is located in north Houston at 7007 N. Freeway. Practicing physicians at this ambulatory care center include Richard Collier, MD; Matthew St. Laurent, MD; Ata Ahmad, MD; Terry Scarborough, MD; and Sherman Yu, MD.

The dedication to quality and the management of effort necessary for an organization to be accredited is substantial. "Achieving accreditation demands a high level of dedication and effort and is important to JourneyLite. This accreditation recognizes the high level of quality care for our patients," said Dr. St. Laurent. "We are pleased that the American College of Surgeons has reviewed our program and found it to be worthy of this accreditation," added Dr. Collier.
