Journey Lite of Thousand Oaks Announces Special Spring Price Discount In Response to Effects of Softening Economy on Patients' Pocketbooks
Date:4/7/2008

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., April 7, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Journey Lite of Thousand Oaks, CA, today announced that in light of the economic pressures being felt by many prospective patients, it is reducing its cash price for patients paying out-of-pocket for their weight loss surgery. Beginning today and through June 30, 2008, the cash charge for Lap-Band(R) surgery at the Thousand Oaks facility is reduced from $15,500 to $13,499.

"Everyone is being effected by declining employment and falling home prices," said Lora Altis, RN, CBN, and Center Director at Journey Lite of Thousand Oaks, "and this can delay their decision to have surgery. As a Lap- Band(R) patient myself, I know how important and life changing this procedure can be. For some, weight loss surgery is the only long term effective way to combat obesity and the many diseases that can accompany it."

"We recognize that many people are forced to choose between having surgery or paying their bills. This choice is even harder in today's economy, and one we wish no one should have to make," stated Cynthia Winker, a Board member of Journey Lite of Thousand Oaks. "By reducing the charge for the Lap-Band(R) procedure, we are making this more affordable for patients. For those with good credit who choose to finance the procedure, the cost can now be under $300 per month for five years, much like a car payment. But unlike owning a car, the possible benefits of weight loss surgery have the potential to last a lifetime."

"I am delighted that we are able to make the Lap-Band(R) procedure more affordable to patients," said Dr. Helmuth Billy, Medical Director of Journey Lite of Thousand Oaks. "We are able to provide a positive experience to patients. We have a great facility, a caring staff, and ongoing support programs to help our patients achieve their long term weight loss goals." Dr. Billy added, "We know that some people elect to have surgery out of the country to save money. Unfortunately, ther
