Jopari Further Expands Nationwide Medical Billing Network Connectivity for Workers' Comp and Auto Providers and Payers

P&C Industry Transactions Gateway Multiplies Direct Connectivity with Clearinghouses, Strategic Trading Partners and Bill Review as States Move to Adopt eBill Regulations

CONCORD, Calif., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Jopari Solutions, a leading Property and Casualty industry supplier of EDI Gateway services, is further expanding its connectivity network for providers and payers nationwide. Network expansion enables Jopari to position mission critical eBill connectivity as more states pursue and adopt regulations requiring electronic exchange of medical transactions.

The Company is multiplying direct provider connections, establishing strategic relationships with significant trading partners, and extending payer and medical bill review connections.

A key relationship supporting expansion of Jopari's connectivity network is the previously announced (August, 2008) strategic relationship with Emdeon. Emdeon is a leading provider of revenue and payment cycle solutions that connect payers, providers and patients to integrate and automate key business and administrative functions throughout the patient encounter.

Emdeon's comprehensive suite of products and services enables customers to improve efficiency, reduce costs, increase cash flow and more efficiently manage the complex revenue and payment cycle process. Integration of Jopari attachment management solutions, combined with Emdeon interfaces in place, allows seamless eBill access for providers without any need on their part to implement separate solutions for Workers' Compensation and Auto Medical electronic transactions.

Seamless attachment submission capability offers business-critical advantages to clearinghouse customers, many of whom are increasingly impacted by medical EDI requirements at the jurisdictional level. Although a small percentage of Group Health claims necessitate submission of supporting documentation for adjudication, virtually all workers' compensation medical bills are subject to strict supporting documentation requirements. Supporting documentation, also called attachments, validates invoiced treatment is work-related, case specific and date-of-injury connected.

According to Jopari, the need for nationwide eBill connectivity is gaining urgency. Two states - Texas and Minnesota - now mandate electronic billing and attachments. Publication of California eBill regulations is pending. Additional states are undertaking eBill initiatives, spurred by active promotion of a national clean claim standard by the International Association of Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC), as well as WEDI.

Said J.R. "Steve" Stevens, Chief Executive Officer of Jopari, "Workers' Compensation and Auto Medical providers and payers today confront a major systemic change in billing conditions. State regulatory agencies are assimilating HIPAA standards. There is intensifying federal focus on medical transaction efficiency. Billing and required documentation is a component of healthcare information technology (HIT) initiatives that is certain to impact non Group Health payers. The business side of medical treatment, involving effective response to a strong cost containment headwind, simply must take advantage of cost benefits that separate electronic from manual bill and attachment processing. Jopari's connectivity network expansion provides a powerful savings and compliance opportunity for both providers and payers."
