Jean LaMantia Registered Dietitian, Cancer Survivor and Author Announces that People Across the Nation are “Committing Random Acts of Kindness” Towards Cancer Patients

“It’s not too late to take part in this unique opportunity to pay it forward” LaMantia reports. The coordinated nation-wide effort allows donors to “commit a random act of kindness” by purchasing a book, having it sent to a participating registered dietitian in a cancer treatment program and then receive a thank you gift from supporters of the project.

“Part of coordinating this effort was to get dietitians across the country to receive the books” recalls LaMantia. “For a split second prior to sending out my request to dietitians, I had a thought ‘what if no-one wants it?’. Well that fear was quickly put to rest as my inbox starting pinging and I was told that dietitians were clogging up the list-serve with their overwhelming response. That was a pivotal moment for me.”

The response by the public has been equally as gratifying as the book has been purchased at a steady rate from on-line sellers amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.

"It’s been heartwarming to know that people still care for their fellow man. I know that nutrition and cancer is an important concern for me and the great response from the public tells me they also see cancer as an issue that drives them to take action” states LaMantia.

Kellie Bishop from Charlottesville, NC wrote this inscription inside the book that she hand delivered to the University of Virginia Cancer Center "Today, I’m Committing a Random Act of Kindness. I am thankful for many things, my health being no small exception. I have met the author, a former cancer patient herself.
