Brooks forms alliance with Home Care Advantage

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Brooks Rehabilitation has purchased Home Care Advantage, a Jacksonville-based home health care agency with 11 years experience in the North Florida market and more than $10 million in revenue. Home Care Advantage is the largest and fastest growing home health agency in Jacksonville. Brooks, the largest rehabilitation provider in Jacksonville, with its 143-bed acute rehabilitation hospital and 25 outpatient centers throughout Central Florida and South Georgia is expanding its services to home health. The new division of Brooks Health System has been named "Brooks Home Care Advantage."

The agreement, signed late Monday, June 30, creates a unique and improved system of healthcare services for those who are recovering from disabilities or illnesses. Brooks President and CEO, Doug Baer said, "This alliance allows us to add another level to the continuum of care we provide our patients and fits our strategy of returning patients to their homes." Home Health will provide the transition many Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital patients need after they are discharged from the hospital. Home Care Advantage and Brooks have many similarities, including excellent reputations in the marketplace for outstanding clinical outcomes.

Karen Wright-Bennett, R.N., founded Home Care Advantage more than 11 years ago. Since then the business has grown from a small start-up operating out of her home, to a multi-million dollar company headquartered in San Marco with more than 60,000 patient visits. There are no plans to eliminate any positions or change anyone's job as a result of the finalized agreement. "Our Mission will not change. We will continue to enable clients to overcome life's challenges by facilitating their independence and enhancing the quality of their lives, allowing them to remain in the comfort of their own homes," said Wright-Bennett, R.N.
