Iowa City, IA Orthodontist Dr. John Mergen Introduces New Braces Technology for Faster, More Attractive Smiles
Date:7/18/2013

Iowa City, IA (PRWEB) July 18, 2013

Iowa City, IA family orthodontist Dr. John Mergen recently introduced new braces technology, called Damon braces, for dental patients seeking a more attractive smile in less time than ever possible before. Many children, teens and adults are choosing Damon braces over traditional braces because of the many benefits associated with the new system.

Damon braces is a clinically proven treatment which aligns teeth and improves facial aesthetics with almost no need for extractions or spacers. The new system quickly aligns teeth, is comfortable and requires no need for tightening. Additionally, patients can have their new smile in fewer appointments.

“The intent of the Damon system is not only to develop great teeth in a shorter amount of time, but actually develop beautiful faces too,” said Dr. Mergen, adult and pediatric orthodontist in Iowa City, IA. “With this breakthrough technology, we can move teeth with more comfort and with gradual pressure that works with the muscles in the face and mouth, not contrary to them.”

The philosophy behind the new braces technology is long-term. Dr. Mergen acknowledges what the patient will look like later in life by considering each individual’s face and profile to create a specific treatment. The Damon system uses brackets without the need for elastic o-rings to hold wires. The absence of o-rings improves oral hygiene because elastic o-rings trap oral bacteria. Instead, the Damon System uses small sliding doors.

“Patients love this new Damon braces system because not only is it quick, but in most cases it also eliminates cost, hassle and pain of extractions that are often required for traditional braces,” said Dr. Mergen. “Overall, with this new procedure we’re able to provide patients with a better experience in our office, and a more
