International SOS Awarded TRICARE Overseas Program Contract
Date:10/16/2009

TREVOSE, Pa., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- International SOS Assistance, Inc. today was awarded the contract to provide comprehensive health care support services to the Department of Defense TRICARE Overseas Program. Since 1998, International SOS has supported TRICARE in ensuring that active duty service members and their families receive the highest quality care, no matter where their work or travels take them outside the United States and Puerto Rico.

Under this new contract, which includes a 10-month transition period and five one-year option periods, International SOS will assist TRICARE Area Offices and Military Treatment Facility Commanders in the implementation of an integrated health care delivery system combining the military's direct medical care system with International SOS support services to nearly half a million of enrolled members, deployed personnel, travelers and retirees outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.

"More than 12 years after being awarded our first contract with TRICARE in the Pacific, International SOS is honored to be given the opportunity to continue our support of America's military families overseas," said Sandy Johnson, International SOS' Senior Executive Vice President. With provider networks in place in all TRICARE remote locations outside of Puerto Rico, International SOS is working to improve the delivery of quality health care to military families. International SOS has a "boots on the ground" approach to superior customer service and network management through dedicated TRICARE customer service centers in Philadelphia, London, Sydney and Singapore.

"International SOS has a history of delivering superior customer service and high-quality, cost-effective, services to TRICARE beneficiaries," said Johnson. "The thank you letters and excellent ratings we receive from our TRICARE customers continue to inspire us in the work we do each day. We are pleased that the TRICARE Management Activity has selected us again."

Partnering with International SOS on the expanded TRICARE Overseas Program are Wisconsin Physician Service Insurance Corporation (WPS), the incumbent overseas claims processor; MedProtect for beneficiary education and enrollment; and Healthways for disease management services.
