Komen Race For The Cure on Saturday, May 2. The 5-kilometer race/walk is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. in front of the West Virginia State Capital Complex on Kanawha Boulevard in Charleston.
The event honors the late Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer in 1980. The West Virginia Affiliate of Komen For The Cure has raised more than $300,000 to fund education, screening and treatment programs in the state. The national Komen For The Cure organization is the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer, investing nearly $1 billion to fight the disease.
