Consumers can review proposals and offer comment
HARRISBURG, Pa., July 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Insurance Commissioner Joel Ario is seeking public input on the Community Health Reinvestment Activities, also known and CHR, for health plan corporations and professional health services plan corporations. CHR plans are submitted to the Insurance Department by way of a provision of the Insurance Company Law of 1921, known as Act 62 of 2008.
Community Health Reinvestment activities are community health services and projects that improve health care or make health care more accessible. The proposals are to outline anticipated activities during the next fiscal year, including an itemization of the individual community health reinvestment activities and the cost of each activity.
As part of the review process, the department opened a 30-day public comment period on June 24, 2009, and encourages those wishing to make a comment to do so by close of business July 24, 2009. Comments will be posted to the department's Web site. Written statements should include the name, address and telephone number of the author, identification of the community health reinvestment activities proposal(s) to which the statement is addressed, and a concise statement with sufficient detail to inform the department of the exact basis of the statement and the relevant facts upon which it is based. The comments should be directed to the definition of community reinvestment activities as contained in Section 2501 of the Act and as described above.
The comments should be sent to Cindy Fillman, Consumer Liaison, at the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, 1326 Strawberry Square, Harrisburg, PA 17120 or at ra-in-consumerliaision@state.pa.us.
