BEDFORD, Mass., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Instrumentation Laboratory (IL) today announced the three recipients of their "Passion & Results" Award. The winners were presented with their awards by IL during ceremonies at the Congress for the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) held in Boston, MA, July 11-16 and at the Annual Meeting for the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), in Chicago, IL, July 19-23.
The "Passion & Results" Award honors healthcare providers who have demonstrated true passion for their profession, resulting in improved patient care. The Company received an overwhelming number of nominations for professionals involved in Critical Care and Hemostasis diagnostics, all around the world.
Though each of the many nominations received were significant and compelling, three nominees truly exemplified uncommon effort and energy, and were chosen to receive an award plus a $2,000 educational grant for their institution in recognition of their 'passion and results.' The three winners were:
Dr. Cesare Manotti President of the Italian Federation of Centers for the Surveillance of Anticoagulant therapies (FCSA) Milan, Italy Giacinto Gervasi, MS, MT(ASCP) Lead Technologist Laboratory Department Syosset Hospital Syosset, NY Diane Davis, MT(ASCP)SH Clinical Laboratory Specialist Pathology/Laboratory Medicine All Children's Hospital St Petersburg, FL
Dr. Cesare Manotti, a scientist with a true passion for research, stood out for his ability to develop new tools and processes in diagnostics to better patient care. In 1983, Dr. Manotti pioneered the development of PARMA OAT Software and contributed heavily to quantifiably improving Oral Anticoagulant Therapy (OAT) quality throughout Europe with PARMA and other related software. He continues to improve the PARMA OAT Software and, most recently, he has been contributing to the development of the new PARMA 6. We honor him for his dedication to the continuous improvement of patient care.
Mr. Gervasi was chosen for an exemplary career as a Laboratory Technologist and for his unwavering work ethic. His career began in 1966, and ever since, he has been recognized as being "invaluable to the lab" for his intelligence, enthusiasm, good judgment, and for being a resource for the entire staff. Mr. Gervasi's hard work, dedication and attention to detail, has provided the patients of Syosset Hospital with the best in diagnostic testing.
Ms. Davis, exemplifies the pioneering Point-of-Care (POC) Coordinator, developing an entire POC testing program - from scratch and with no set of directions or an existing model. Davis's point-of-care-testing (POCT) program, initiated in 1994, has been heralded as "one of the best in the US." It provides testing for three pediatric ICUs, an 80-bed Neonatal ICU, a Cardiovascular OR, the Cath Lab, and the Emergency Room. Physicians and nurses at All Children's use POCT tools so effortlessly now, they have come to take POCT for granted - Diane's goal all along.
"IL is proud to honor these inspiring individuals who exhibit remarkable passion and an unmatched commitment to achieving the best results for their patients," said Josep Manent, CEO at IL. "We salute the outstanding achievements of Diane Davis, Giacinto Gervasi, and Dr. Cesare Manotti."
Ramon Benet, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and US Sales and Service at IL, added, "At IL, we reflect passion and results in all we do and have the unwavering goal of improving the quality of patient care. We are honored to recognize and reward this same passion for results in the healthcare professionals we serve."
