Instrumentation Laboratory Announces 'ILeader Panel' of Experts as Part of 50th Anniversary Program

- Four-Person Panel Now Accepting Speaking Engagements -

LEXINGTON, Mass., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Instrumentation Laboratory (IL), a worldwide developer, manufacturer and distributor of in vitro diagnostic instruments, related reagents and services, has announced its newly-formed ILeader Panel of experts as part of the Company's "50 and Forward" program to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2009.

The ILeader Panel is a board of IL employees who have been selected for their substantial experience and knowledge in their specific fields, as well as their contributions to the diagnostics industry. Members of the ILeader Panel are available as knowledge resources for the IVD community and press, and for conferences, forums, webcasts, roundtables and other discussion venues.

ILeader Panel Members: Brief Biographies

Dr. Paul D'Orazio, Director, Critical Care Analytical: Dr. D'Orazio has nearly 30 years of experience in the critical care industry, and at IL he is responsible for the development of analytical methodologies from proof of concept and technical feasibility to market launch for the critical care product line. Prior to joining IL 9 years ago, Dr. D'Orazio worked as a research scientist and supervisor of Sensor Technology for Bayer Diagnostics. He holds 12 patents in the field of chemical sensors and served on the boards of the AACC Critical and Point of Care Testing and Industry Divisions, and as a member of several CSLI committees. He is currently a member of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry Committee on Selective Electrodes and Point of Care Testing and an Editorial Board member for Point of Care: The Journal of Near Patient Testing and Technology. In addition, Dr. D'Orazio is an ongoing contributor to many leading industry publications. He holds a BA in Chemistry from Washington and Jefferson College and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Dr. Sohrab Mansouri, Staff Scientist: Dr. Mansouri brings over 20 years of field experience to IL, where his focus has been the industry-leading GEM(R) family of critical care analyzers. As an expert in quality assurance processes, he was involved in the development of the Intelligent Quality Management (iQM(R)) systems, the industry standard for quality control, and its application to both the GEM Premier(TM) 3000 and GEM Premier 4000. Dr. Mansouri also developed numerous sensors and has written over 30 publications in the field and authored/coauthored seven patents for improving sensor performance and calibration and reagent stability. He received the 'Technical Innovation Award' from Mallinkckrodt Headquarters in 2002. Dr. Mansouri holds a BS and MSc in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Mark Triscott, Vice President of R & D, Reagent Development: Dr. Triscott has been in Hemostasis R&D for more than 20 years, joining the executive group at IL in 2006. His work has been featured in over 20 peer-reviewed publications and chapters, and he has authored/coauthored three patents in U.S. and foreign filings. A member of several professional societies, with special training in various industry subjects, and an author/contributor to more than 50 published abstracts and invited presentations, Dr. Triscott holds a BS and PhD in Microbiology from the University of Queensland in Australia.

Stephen Trotta, Vice President of R & D, Instrument Development: Stephen Trotta has over 20 years of experience in advanced engineering development, specializing in the design and development of automated instrumentation in the areas of electrical, mechanical, software, optical and systems design. His experience spans automated test equipment development to instrument development of laboratory equipment for biotechnology and biomedical applications. At IL, he has held various leadership, technical and project roles, including the project management of the ACL TOP(R) Hemostasis Testing System. Trotta is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
