Inspiring Authors Tell Inspirational Stories: Special Writers Find Accepting Home at Lulu.com
Date:9/14/2007

RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Inspiration can take on different forms; it can be a song, an event or a person. Lulu.com has made it possible for those with inspiring stories to have an outlet, in particular Heather Higgins, an 11-year-old author with Autism.

Heather Higgins published her book, "The Foal that doesn't have a Family" (http://www.lulu.com/content/874431), and became one of Lulu's youngest authors. Her story follows the journey of a young foal that was deserted by his family and is then adopted. Her message of encouragement and support of adoption for children is one that mirrors her own personal story. "I wrote it to show other kids that if they have to go into adoption, it should be fun and not scary," says Higgins. Despite her Autism, Heather shared her story of finding her family in hopes of letting others know that no matter the situation you can prevail to find your place.

Another young author shared his personal struggle by using Lulu.com. Quinn Koeneman, a 12-year-old with Asperger's Syndrome, a form of Autism, gives an introspective account of his daily struggles in "Through my Eyes: a Life with Asperger's" (http://www.lulu.com/content/710903).

Lulu is not only a place to share personal narratives but also a great marketplace to share resources on how to deal with diseases, such as Autism. Teaching guides such as the TEACCH Preschool Curriculum Guides by Susan Boswell (http://www.lulu.com/teacch) and "Educate Toward Recovery: Turing the Tables on Autism by Robert Schramm, MA, BCBA (http://www.lulu.com/content/425955) are another way to share your experiences and learn more.

No matter the age or experience, everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard. Find inspira
