Innovative Business Intelligence Software Helps Keep Australia Healthy this Winter
Date:5/20/2009

A Decision A Day Keeps the Doctor Away - Using QlikView, Inside Info has allowed our customers to easily identify health market trends such as tracking the progression of diseases in the community through more effective profiling of disease trends. Essentially, QliKView helps us keep Australia healthy." said Jon Marshall, Managing Director, asteRx.

Sydney, NSW (PRWEB) May 20, 2009 -- The Australian health and pharmaceutical industry is using one of the country's most innovative products to track the trail of disease and illness throughout the country this winter, while simultaneously monitoring prescriptions and their impact on consumers.

asteRx, an online clinical data and market research services company for the Australian healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, is using Inside Info's QlikView business intelligence application via the web to help pharmaceutical companies easily identify health market trends, customer behaviour and prescription anomalies.

asteRx provides a fast and secure channel for doctors to participate in market research, collecting anonymous prescription data from a representative national sample of doctors with scriptwriting software. Previously millions of scripts were then analysed in a myriad of ways that would take weeks to manipulate for a single result. Customers were provided with data, usually in Microsoft Access or CSV format, making it difficult from which to draw insight. Data contained lots of hierarchies, continually changing data frequency with varying levels of aggregation. Typical market research analysis and user experience seemed to deteriorate as data volumes grew with other business intelligence tools.

Using QlikView for interactive analysis of data, as well as more effective gender and geographic profiling of the aggregated anonymous data, asteRx helps pharmaceutical companies to effectively dedicate resources, identify health trends and community issues as a whole by having instant access to products, quantities and combinations prescribed across a representative sample of GPs.

"Using QlikView, Inside Info has allowed our customers to easily identify health market trends such as tracking the progression of diseases in the community through more effective profiling of disease trends. It also allows for better management of medicines together with identification of prescription anomalies and their impact on consumers. Essentially, QliKView helps us keep Australia healthy." said Jon Marshall, Managing Director, asteRx.

QlikView has provided asteRx with an expanded breadth of analysis by easily allowing contextual data to be added to study results, showing unseen or long term trends in data as well as macro and micro level relationships . Data volume, format and structure restrictions are irrelevant in QlikView. With this, asteRx now provides the missing link between how products are being used and the pharmaceutical companies that own the products.

"With QlikView, asteRx now has a powerful capability that enables a company to drill down into large volumes of data to look for meaningful insights that can be acted on. The fact that QlikView delivers multi-dimensional and simple-to-use exploration of data makes it ideal for information providers like asteRx who want to differentiate their content. As with all QlikView solutions, this was delivered quickly for asteRx, in just 12 days," explained Stuart Barnard, Managing Director, Inside Info.
