Sydney, NSW (PRWEB) May 20, 2009 -- The Australian health and pharmaceutical industry is using one of the country's most innovative products to track the trail of disease and illness throughout the country this winter, while simultaneously monitoring prescriptions and their impact on consumers.

asteRx, an online clinical data and market research services company for the Australian healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, is using Inside Info's QlikView business intelligence application via the web to help pharmaceutical companies easily identify health market trends, customer behaviour and prescription anomalies.

asteRx provides a fast and secure channel for doctors to participate in market research, collecting anonymous prescription data from a representative national sample of doctors with scriptwriting software. Previously millions of scripts were then analysed in a myriad of ways that would take weeks to manipulate for a single result. Customers were provided with data, usually in Microsoft Access or CSV format, making it difficult from which to draw insight. Data contained lots of hierarchies, continually changing data frequency with varying levels of aggregation. Typical market research analysis and user experience seemed to deteriorate as data volumes grew with other business intelligence tools.

Using QlikView for interactive analysis of data, as well as more effective gender and geographic profiling of the aggregated anonymous data, asteRx helps pharmaceutical companies to effectively dedicate resource
