Ingenious Med's IM Quality(TM) Solution Goes Mobile
Date:8/18/2009

ATLANTA, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Ingenious Med, the leading provider of mobile solutions for physicians, announces that the IM Quality(TM) solution, for Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) reporting, is now available on handheld devices. The addition of handheld PQRI reporting further enhances the ability of physicians to easily capture quality and revenue information while rounding at hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and other healthcare environments. The migration to automated processes in the healthcare industry is progressing, and physicians are increasingly adopting ways to utilize mobile devices for their revenue and quality-of-care capture. Ingenious Med provides a software solution that is accessible through Internet-enabled mobile devices, hospital workstations, laptops and mobile PCs. Ingenious Med is constantly developing additional features to assist physicians and their healthcare institutions in generating additional revenue while increasing quality of care.

Ingenious Med helped pioneer PQRI data capture functionality when it offered its quality/capture solution initially back in 2007. IM Quality(TM) enables physicians and practice administrators to document, capture, report, and submit quality performance metrics. IM Quality(TM) was created to help clinicians perform PQRI quality measure data collection and reporting with as little practice resource allocation and workflow interruption as possible. In addition to the short-term financial benefits of earning up to a 2% reimbursement (previously 1.5%), physicians and practices that track quality performance can enhance revenues, improve clinical care, and prove practice value to hospitals, payers and patients. The mobile version of IM Quality(TM) now enables physicians to further capture quality data at the point-of-care.

Data from IM Quality(TM) has been instrumental in honing government legislation by providing information to CMS to preserve several PQRI measures critical to particular inpatient specialties, including hospitalists. The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) successfully lobbied CMS to get several 2007 performance measure specifications changed so that inpatient physicians could report on them, according to Patrick J. Torcson, MD, MMM, FACP, chairman of the SHM Performance and Standards Committee. "That's where Ingenious Med and IM Quality(TM) came in," said Torcson. "SHM was given an opportunity to present a position paper to CMS and make a case for keeping three cardiac inpatient measures. Using data from IM Quality(TM) provided by Ingenious Med, SHM was able to show that these were not only pertinent measures, but also were the most common measures reported by our inpatient physicians." Ultimately, CMS decided not to change the specifications. According to Torcson, "It was nice to be able to call on Ingenious Med and get the data to make our case."

"Offering PQRI functionality for our physicians on handheld devices makes it more convenient for them to round as efficiently as possible while increasing the quality of care at the bedside," states Hart Williford, CEO of Ingenious Med. IM Quality(TM) is just one more way to align physicians with hospital incentives . . . making it mobile makes it that much easier.

About Ingenious Med, Inc.

Founded in 1999 by a group of practicing physicians, Ingenious Med is an industry-leading mobile platform that automates the activities of physicians when they are away from their office, whether they are rounding at a hospital, an outpatient clinic, a nursing home, or even at home. Ingenious Med's all-inclusive software solution, IM Practice Manager, is a handheld and Internet-based application that enables physicians to capture charges, enhance documentation, coding and compliance, improve quality of care, increase revenue and communicate digitally.
