Panel to Explore the Impact of 802.11n Adoption in the Enterprise

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) April 22, 2010 -- Aerohive Networks, creators of the award-winning cooperative control wireless LAN (WLAN) architecture, announced today that Aerohive Advisor and former co-founder of Airespace, Bob O’Hara will provide his insights on the enterprise WLAN market at Interop Las Vegas 2010.

O’Hara will join the panel, “The Big Upgrade: 802.11n in the Enterprise,” which will explore the best ways to implement 802.11n in the enterprise. Moderated by industry analyst and president of Core Competence, Lisa Phifer, the group will delve into topics critical to enterprise WLAN deployments, including channel planning, device issues, system architecture, wireless network management, and how to perform the big upgrade with a minimum of disruption, cost, and confusion. The discussion is scheduled for Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 10:15 a.m. PT.

“Mobility in the enterprise is no longer a convenience, but a requirement,” said Bob O’Hara, Aerohive Advisor. “To take full advantage of what 802.11n offers – which ultimately results in the WLAN taking the place of the wired network for access – enterprise IT managers should look strategically at their WLAN deployments. I’m looking forward to discussing these pressing issues at Interop.”

Bob O'Hara, co-founder of Airespace, is widely regarded as a pioneer in the wireless LAN industry for his significant role in the creation of the original 802.11 standard and for his continued leadership in the evolution and advancement of subsequent wireless standards. Airespace introduced the first centralized control system for wireless LANs. At Airespace, O'Hara developed the 802.11 system architecture and drove the adoption of the company's intellectual property in the 802.11 standard. Cisco Systems acquired Airespace in 2005. O'Hara has held executive and senior technical positions at AMD, Informed Technology, and Fairchild Space and Electronics. He is a co-author of the IEEE 802.11 Handbook: A Designer's Companion, and, in 2004, he was honored by Network World as one of the 50 most powerful people in networking. He holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland and has been issued nine patents for wireless LAN system design.
