Inaugural 13.1 Marathon Boston to Benefit Crohn's & Colitis Foundation: Summer 2010 Race to Raise Awareness & Funds for Digestive Diseases

Team Challenge prepares participants to run or walk a half marathon while helping to raise funds to find a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Seventeen chapters throughout the nation will recruit runners and walkers, provide 16 week training programs, and offer fundraising advice and assistance for this race. The group will then travel as a team to participate in an unforgettable race weekend in Boston. Over the event weekend in Boston, Team Challenge participants will celebrate together and have free time to explore all Boston has to offer with highlights including a pre-race pasta party, entertainment along the half marathon course, and a post-race victory party.

"We are confident that this partnership will further elevate awareness of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and raise much-needed funds for patients who are suffering from them," said Staci Brown, National Event Director for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. "With over 1.4 million Americans living with the chronic and debilitating pain of Crohn's and colitis, involvement with this new and exciting event will allow the Foundation to break new ground in its awareness-building and fundraising efforts."

Boston is one of eight planned stops on the 2010 schedule for the 13.1 Marathon® Series. The Team Challenge event has already become one of the most anticipated races within the 13.1 Marathon® Series as runners from throughout the country will come to Boston and support a great cause. Other cities on the 2010 calendar include Los Angeles, Miami each, New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Dallas.
