Ilitch Brings New Brand of Pilates to Metro Detroit With Opening of Studio in West Bloomfield
Date:11/20/2007

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelle Ilitch, an entrepreneur trained in Pilates, is bringing the latest Pilates technique to metro-Detroit at her new studio and boutique, Pure Element Pilates. Ilitch's version of the innovative barre workout is called Barre Intensity(R). It uses a combination of weights, Pilates and dance exercises in rapid sequence to tone and transform the body. The intense style barre workout isn't available at any other studios in the area.

According to Ilitch, she developed a passion for Pilates when a back injury ended her involvement with ballet and other exercise. She started taking Pilates classes and seeing positive results, decided to study the technique.

"While taking classes all over the country, including in New York and Los Angeles, I discovered an innovative technique that used a quick sequence of exercises and stretches set to motivating music," Ilitch explained. "Doing a fast succession of isometric exercises increases the heart rate, so men and women get the benefits of a traditional barre routine plus gains in heart health and strength endurance."

The Barre Intensity workout targets the seat, thighs and abdominal muscle groups. Each section of the routine is followed by stretching to help create long, lean muscles and improve flexibility.

Pure Element Pilates offers a full schedule of classes to meet a variety of needs. More traditional Pilates reformer and mat classes are available. "We really wanted to offer something for everyone," said Ilitch. "We're adding a class just for men, taught by a male instructor and we even have a Pure Mature workout that caters to clients over 55."

In addition to the barre and reformer studios, Pure Element Pilates has features that turn working out into a relaxing, sensual experience. Guests entering the studio are greeted with elements that appeal to the senses. The sleek, clean design is visually appealing and a flat screen television communicates news, tips and additional information. Music fills the lobby area and boutique and the fresh scent of Seda France candles infuses the air. Visitors can even prepare their palate for a workout with vitamin-filled suckers that are emblazoned with the studio's logo.

"We wanted this to be anything but your typical Pilates or barre studio," Ilitch said. "We spent a considerable amount of time in the design phase walking in our clients' shoes. The result is that we are able to accommodate a broad range of guests and they get an experience that is truly focused on their needs."

Features like extra-long reformers to accommodate taller clients and studio floor padding that is 50 percent thicker than most studios to prevent foot injuries are just a few of the differentiating characteristics of Pure Element Pilates.

But, Ilitch points out that no matter how good the equipment, it's the instructors that make the difference. "Pure Element Pilates has what I believe is the top team of instructors in the area. All are highly qualified and each instructor contributes skills that help us tailor workouts to the many needs of our guests," she said. "For example, we have instructors trained for special populations such as our Pure Mature adults as well as, top team members trained to instruct serious athletes."

In addition to cutting-edge Pilates instruction, Pure Element Pilates boasts a retail boutique offering state-of-the-art Pilates clothing and accessories along with unique and hard-to-find health products and fitness accessories. Many of the items sold in the boutique, like E-Boost energy tablets and Loss Gloss lip gloss can't be found anywhere else in the state or region.

"Pure Element Pilates isn't like any other Pilates studio I've ever seen," added Ilitch. "We wanted everything about the experience to be unique to us, so we did a lot of research in choosing the very best products and services to offer our guests."

Classes and private instruction are offered seven days a week. Times vary, but a complete schedule is available at http://www.pureelementpilates.com. Classes are designed for every level from beginner to advanced and taught by a team of highly trained professional instructors.

The studio is located at 7100 Orchard Lake Road, Suite 432 in West Bloomfield, Mich. More information is available at http://www.pureelementpilates.com.
