Ilitch Brings New Brand of Pilates to Metro Detroit With Opening of Studio in West Bloomfield
Date:11/20/2007

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelle Ilitch, an entrepreneur trained in Pilates, is bringing the latest Pilates technique to metro-Detroit at her new studio and boutique, Pure Element Pilates. Ilitch's version of the innovative barre workout is called Barre Intensity(R). It uses a combination of weights, Pilates and dance exercises in rapid sequence to tone and transform the body. The intense style barre workout isn't available at any other studios in the area.

According to Ilitch, she developed a passion for Pilates when a back injury ended her involvement with ballet and other exercise. She started taking Pilates classes and seeing positive results, decided to study the technique.

"While taking classes all over the country, including in New York and Los Angeles, I discovered an innovative technique that used a quick sequence of exercises and stretches set to motivating music," Ilitch explained. "Doing a fast succession of isometric exercises increases the heart rate, so men and women get the benefits of a traditional barre routine plus gains in heart health and strength endurance."

The Barre Intensity workout targets the seat, thighs and abdominal muscle groups. Each section of the routine is followed by stretching to help create long, lean muscles and improve flexibility.

Pure Element Pilates offers a full schedule of classes to meet a variety of needs. More traditional Pilates reformer and mat classes are available. "We really wanted to offer something for everyone," said Ilitch. "We're adding a class just for men, taught by a male instructor and we even have a Pure Mature workout that caters to clients over 55."

In addition to the barre and reformer studios, Pure Element Pilates has features that turn working out into a relaxing, sensual experience. Guests entering the studio are greeted with elements that appeal to the senses. The sleek, clean design is visually appealing and a flat screen television commun
