If You're Pregnant, Drinking Can Lead to Your Child's Death

A recent study published by WebMD on 2/26/13, found that one in six SIDS deaths was linked to mothers who had drinking issues. For this study, the researchers evaluated nearly 78,000 live births from 1983 to 2005. They found nearly 22,000 of the mothers had an alcohol diagnosis such as acute alcohol intoxication or dependence. "Maternal alcohol-use disorder is a significant risk factor for SIDS and infant mortality," wrote researcher Colleen O'Leary of Curtin University in Perth, and colleagues.
