IPC The Hospitalist Company Adopts 'E-Proxy' to Reduce Environmental Impact

Schedules 2009 Annual Stockholders' Meeting for May 28, 2009

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCM), a leading national hospitalist physician group practice, announced today that it will adopt the Securities and Exchange Commission's "Notice & Access Method", or "E-Proxy" rules, that allow companies to furnish proxy materials to stockholders over the Internet as an alternative to the traditional approach of delivering a printed set to each stockholder. By adopting the E-Proxy, the Company will reduce the costs and environmental impact of bulk printing and distribution of its Form 10-K and proxy statement to its stockholders.

The 2009 Annual Meeting of Stockholders will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Hilton Los Angeles, 555 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City, California, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

Stockholders of record at the close of business on March 31, 2009 will receive a Notice of Internet Availability of Proxy Materials by mail in mid-April, which will include information regarding the date, time and location of the annual meeting, a brief description of the matters to be voted on, instructions on how to access and review proxy materials and vote online, and how to obtain, at no charge, paper or e-mail copies of the proxy materials if that is the stockholders' preference.
