HydroWorx Webinar Focuses on Aquatic Training to Reduce Over Training and Injuries in Healthy Athletes
Date:4/12/2016

Athletes have to make smart decisions when it comes to staying at the top of their games. They also have to keep improving their abilities, which usually involves training harder. Unfortunately, this can lead to common problems associated with over training, including musculoskeletal injuries. As healthy athletes, along with the sports medicine and strength training experts who advise them, seek lower-impact ways to enhance performance without risking issues, they are more frequently turning toward aquatic-based training.

Hydrotherapy has been shown to add diversity to an athlete’s training regimen without jeopardizing safety. For industry professionals and athletes new to this type of aquatic exercise program, or those who want to increase their skills in this fast-growing area, HydroWorx is offering a one-hour webinar on April 14, 2016, from 1:00-2:00 E.D.T. The webinar, “Aquatic Training Programs for Healthy Athletes,” will be led by Murphy Grant, MS, LAT, PES, Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and Head Football Athletic Training at the University of Kansas. Grant is a published leader in his field, and regularly works with healthy and injured athletes to keep them playing the sports they love. He’s has been a Division I athletic trainer for the past decade and is currently entering his eighth year as head football athletic trainer at the University of Kansas.

During this webinar, Grant will discuss and illustrate water’s unique, natural properties which make it an outstanding venue for cross-training, such as water’s buoyancy and hydrostatic pressure. Attendees will also be introduced to ways to create engaging, diverse water-based workouts; they will learn how aquatic-based training programs can be set up for successful flow of action and positive outcomes; and discover which exercises are best suited for certain types of athletes, such as football players, baseball players, etc. At the conclusion of Aquatic Training Programs for Healthy Athletes, Grant will answer questions from audience members to give personalized feedback to participants.

Registration can be made for this hour-long HydroWorx webinar by going to the Aquatic Training Programs for Healthy Athletes webpage.
