In the early 1970s, Dr. Siegal had an epiphany that would guide the rest of his life and career and spawn his mantra: Hunger Wrecks Diets(TM). He decided to engineer a food specifically to control his patients' hunger and enable them to adhere to the low-calorie diet that he advocated.
