Hostess(R) 100 Calorie Pack Cup Cakes Named A Most Memorable New Product of 2007
Date:2/29/2008

Better-for-You Products Dominate Annual Survey

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Hostess(R) 100 Calorie Pack Cup Cakes was named a Most Memorable New Product Launch (MMNPL) of 2007 in a survey sponsored by Schneider Associates, New Products Magazine and Information Resources, Inc. (IRI). Hostess 100 Calorie Pack Cup Cakes, which debuted in February 2007, offer calorie-conscious consumers portion- controlled, snack sized packages each containing three scrumptious mini cup cakes featuring the brand's signature creamy filling.

The survey, conducted by comScore and taken by more than 1,000 U.S. consumers, was designed to identify the most memorable new products of 2007 among 50 new products by measuring purchasing and behavioral trends.

"The consumer response to Hostess 100 Calorie Pack Cup Cakes far exceeded our initial expectations and we are thrilled, but not surprised, to be among the most memorable new products of 2007," said David Leavitt, Vice President of Snack Marketing at Interstate Bakeries. "Hostess 100 Calorie Packs put the focus on taste and place a premium on what consumers really crave -- a truly satisfying, authentic tasting, sweet treat."

"'Health-on-the-go' was a major trend that came out of the 2007 MMNPL survey. Hostess was ahead of the curve in clearly communicating its unique selling proposition by including the calorie count in the product name. Look for this trend to continue in 2008," said Julie Hall, Vice President of Schneider Associates.

Available nationwide, Hostess 100 Calorie Pack Cup Cakes are available in three delicious varieties:
* Chocolate cake with chocolate icing and creamy filling

* Golden cake with chocolate icing and creamy filling

* Carrot cake with cream cheese icing and creamy filling

Last month, the brand extended the popular 100 Calorie Pack line to include 100 Calorie Packs of Muffins and Coffee Cakes. Hostess 100 Calorie Pack Muffi
