Hospital Association President Gary Carter Announces Retirement
Date:9/12/2007

m care for the residents of New Jersey," said Carter. "But I'm also excited about this new course that my wife Susan and I are undertaking. While we have not formalized any specific plans other than to spend more time with our grandchildren -- none of whom live in New Jersey -- we are also looking forward to working together within our church."

Carter praised the New Jersey hospital leaders who help shape NJHA's work and the staff that carries it out.

"NJHA enjoys a rich tradition of excellent board leadership, and I have been blessed to work with such leaders over these 14 years, as well as to experience the support of our Board and membership," the Belle Mead resident said. "I also feel very blessed to have worked with the excellent NJHA staff. At every level we have people who have worked tirelessly for the good of all in the healthcare community."

Before coming to New Jersey in 1993, Carter was president of the New Hampshire Hospital Association for eight years. He has achieved Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He continues to serve on various committees of the American Hospital Association and consults with the Joint Commission -- the nation's largest healthcare accrediting organization - - in its efforts to standardize clinical outcomes measures. He also is active in numerous church and community organizations.
