Hope Animal Rescues Wins Synthetic Turf International’s Better Play & Recreation Contest
Date:7/25/2013

(PRWEB) July 25, 2013

Hope Animal Rescues - a no-kill animal rescue in Godfrey, Illinois that has saved the lives of thousands of dogs - has won Synthetic Turf International’s Better Play & Recreation Contest. The non-profit organization will receive the grand prize of a synthetic turf installation worth up to $50,000, which will conserve resources while providing a more sanitary outdoor environment for the animals they serve.

“Our volunteers and adopters were over the moon excited about winning this contest,” explained Jackie Spiker, Co-Founder of Hope Animal Rescues. “Having the synthetic turf for our pets will help us reduce maintenance costs, as we were spending over $300.00 per month watering sod, and give the dogs a great play area in which to run and enjoy!”

Synthetic Turf International (STI) launched its Better Play & Recreation Contest to recognize non-profit groups that work tirelessly to make a positive difference in their communities. Nearly 4,000 votes were received online during the contest’s public voting period, with Hope Animal Rescues garnering over 40% of the total vote. Their new synthetic turf pet recreation area will be installed at the end of September, 2013.

Hope Animal Rescues (http://www.hoperescues.com) is committed to engaging and serving local communities of people and animals. To date Hope has saved 1,920 dogs and re-homed 1,785 dogs through their adoption program.

In addition to Hope Animal Rescues, the other nine contest finalists included Alma Pre-School- Castro Valley Unified School District, Castro Valley, CA; Button Hole, Providence, RI; The Children's Course/The First Tee of Greater Portland, Gladstone, OR; City of Refuge, Atlanta, GA; Golf Supports Our Troops, Madison, NJ; Island Creek Park on Kerr Lake, North Carolina; Northwest Louisiana Youth Golf & Education Foundation, Shreveport, LA; Peninsula YMCA/First Tee, Newport News, VA; and the Society for Handicapped Children & Adults, Modesto, CA.
