Using something as simple as the LifeBed to find patients in trouble is clearly enhancing the effectiveness of rapid response teams and falls management programs nationwide -- it's the missing link to solving an enormous problem that touches one-in-four Americans each year. We enjoy partnering with organizations like Kahala Nui that can also benefit from upcoming LifeBed features, like pressure sore management, since pressure sores also pose significant health risks to our elderly."

Falls can be deadly to frail elders -- preventing them is a critical step toward ensuring the health and well-being of our elders. A recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that a 10 percent decrease in falls translates into about 1,800 fewer injuries, less discomfort and disability for the elderly, and about $21 million less in health care costs in the region where the interventions took place. Nationwide, there are more than 1.9 million elderly people living in nursing homes. The CDC also states that as many as 370,000 elderly living in nursing homes will die from falls each year, resulting in a cost of more than $1 billion for treatment of falls alone.

The LifeBed has experience on more than 15,000 acute-care medical-surgical patients around the country, or more than 1.5 million patient hours, and has shown that errors and a
