Date:11/20/2008

BATESVILLE, Ind., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hill-Rom (NYSE: HRC), a leading worldwide manufacturer and provider of medical technologies and related services for the health care industry, today announced that the company has won a coveted Brandon Hall gold award for excellence in the Best Custom Content category. The Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Awards are presented annually by Brandon Hall Research, one of the leading research firms in training and development. Now in its 14th year, the Awards program showcases exceptional work in the use of eLearning technology.

Hill-Rom's winning entry was for their TotalCare(R) Connect Bed eLearning course. This custom-designed, self-paced, interactive eLearning tool is used to help hospital caregivers learn how to fully utilize the features of the bed to deliver safe and effective care to immobile patients. The Hill-Rom TotalCare Connect Bed is used primarily in Intensive Care Units in hospitals throughout the country. Hill-Rom has partnered with i.d.e.a.s. Learning to create a series of story-based eLearning courses for its product line of patient care medical devices and the TotalCare Connect Bed eLearning course is one in this series.

"Effective product training is critical for caregivers in all settings. We want caregivers to fully use the innovative technology that the products provide to enhance patient outcomes and help keep caregivers safe," said Lorie Way, vice president of Clinical Excellence at Hill-Rom. "Our challenge is to ensure that we deliver training that is easily accessed within the time constraints that all nursing staff and other caregivers feel. That means we must be innovative. We believe that eLearning is an effective alternative to traditional face-to-face instruction and are excited to be recognized by Brandon Hall Research for the high quality eLearning courses we are developing."

Hill-Rom was recognized during a ceremony and reception held as part of the 2008 Innovations in Learning Conference held in late September. The winners are listed at www.brandon-hall.com.

A total of 246 entries were originally submitted across 10 categories. The entries were evaluated by independent judges around the world.
