illness or move into long-term care and assisted living situations."

He added that the bed also offers an element of simplicity in its streamlined, easy-to-use design and controls that are intuitive for patients, their families and caregivers.

"The Hill-Rom(R) 100 Low Bed provides important safety features for patients and their caregivers, and the features are easy to use," said Melissa Fitzpatrick, RN, MSN, FAAN, vice president and chief clinical officer for Hill-Rom. "One of the key elements this bed offers is the Auto Contour(TM) feature with Shearless Pivot(R) mechanism-a feature that protects patients' skin by reducing shear, and protects their dignity because they don't have to rely on a caregiver to reposition them. Also important, this feature reduces caregiver back strain because it requires less lifting of patients to reposition them."

"This bed's intuitive design makes it easy for caregivers and patients to use, even those with arthritis or poor vision," added Fitzpatrick. "As more patients choose to remain at home or transition from the hospital to a long- term care setting, they can have a bed that looks and feels more like home, while at the same time, enhances their care."

The Hill-Rom(R) 100 Low Bed includes numerous style and safety features that make it a great value for both home and extended care use:

- The Hill-Rom(R) 100 Low Bed offers two color choices (traditional or

contemporary), two headboard/footboard styles, and seven laminate finish

colors for a total of 28 design options, allowing the bed to fit well

into any decor.

- The modular design of the 100 Low Bed makes it quick and easy to set up

at home or in any care setting. Its open architecture style has no

wires

or mechanisms underneath, making it attractive and easier to clean.

- Three resident assist rail choices are available that promote safety and

assist mobility.
