Designation recognizes Highmark as a leader in employment opportunities for

individuals age 50 and above

PITTSBURGH, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Highmark Inc. was recently designated a Certified Age-Friendly(TM) Employer by RetirementJobs.com, the number-one career Web site for job seekers age 50 and above. Highmark received scores higher than any other company awarded this designation and is the first plan in the Blue Cross Blue Shield network to earn this distinction.

Following an evaluation of Highmark's Certification Evaluation Standards, a review of public information about the company and a comparison of Highmark's policies and practices to those within the health care industry, RetirementJobs.com awarded Highmark a score of "Exceeding Standards" on 13 qualifying criteria and a "Best Practice" score in seven categories. "Best Practice" designations are given to recognize a policy, program or practice that is superior to competitive industry norms.
