Career Step re-launches its Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Coding and Billing program. Healthcare a lone bright spot in a down economy.

In an effort to highlight these job opportunities, Career Step, a leading online healthcare education company, has re-launched its Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Coding and Billing program.

Both the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) have recently released reports on the number of jobs the Medical Coding and Billing field will generate within the next few years. The BLS classifies medical coding and billing professionals as a part of the Medical Records and Health Information Technician field and projects a 20% increase in employment before 2018—representing over 37,000 new jobs. This projected growth will be triggered and sustained by the aging population and the increasing number of medical tests, treatments, and procedures.
