History of Innovation to remain in Upstate New York

FLORIDA, N.Y., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Hero/Beech-Nut's role as a category leader in innovation in infant nutrition for more than 75 years as well as the company's ongoing commitment to cutting edge nutrition in its wide variety of products will be enhanced through the construction of a new $124 million 550,000 square foot infant food manufacturing facility scheduled to open in fall 2009. A groundbreaking ceremony was held today in the Town of Florida, NY to celebrate the beginning of the construction of the new facility.

Hero/Beech-Nut recently launched two new first-ever lines of baby food -- Good Morning/Good Evening and DHA plus+(TM) - offering parents both nutritional and packaging innovations that are unmatched by the competition.

-- Good Morning & Good Evening is the first line of dry and jarred foods

to offer key ingredients to infants already eating solid baby foods,

based on the time of day that they are fed and the associated

nutritional needs. Good Morning products contain soluble fiber to give

baby sustained nutrition throughout the morning for improved

concentration and learning and Good Evening products contain whey

protein and calcium to help baby grow throughout the night, when he

grows most.

-- DHA plus+(TM) is the first line to contain both DHA (docosahexaenoic

acid), an omega-3 fatty acid that supports baby's mental and visual

development and prebiotics which stimulate the growth of "good"

bacteria in a baby's digestive system while aiding in calcium

absorption.

-- Easy Pour(TM) is the latest packaging innovation from Hero/Beech-Nut

designed for easier feeding and less mess. Easy Pour packaging replaces

traditional flimsy dry cereal boxes with a sturdier carton container

that features a twist-off spout to allow Mom to easily open, pour,

close and store baby's cereal.

Earlier this year, Hero/Beech-Nut expanded on both lines, introducing even more baby food 'firsts' including the first-ever fish option for baby (Wild Alaskan Salmon), the first-ever wholesome juice-blend beverages for infants that have added benefits to aid in digestion, concentration, growth and development, and the foods containing whole wheat and muesli varieties.

All Hero/Beech-Nut foods and beverages are all-natural with added vitamins and minerals and its jarred baby foods contain no added salt, starches, or refined sugars.
