Heritage Woods of Sterling to Host Literature Aloud with Local Storyteller

Heritage Woods of Sterling, a BMA affordable assisted living community in Sterling, Illinois, is hosting Literature Aloud with Peg Hoffmiller at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.

The community serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

Hoffmiller is a local story who paints pictures by telling stories rather than by using paint, a canvass, brushes or even an easel, says Dawn Powell, Administrator of Heritage Woods of Sterling.

The Literature Aloud program is open to the public and will be held at Heritage Woods of Sterling, which is located at 2205 Oak Grove Ave. in Sterling, Illinois. There is no cost to attend.

Heritage is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program and is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.

“Our focus at Heritage Woods is to provide residents with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve with the help and personal assistance that they need,” says Powell. “Our emphasis is on helping each resident to achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible.”

Heritage Woods of Sterling provides the opportunity for older adults to live in a residential apartment-home environment and receive personal assistance and help with medications.

Each of the apartments features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, and an emergency alert system.

Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Meal
