Help for Struggling CPAP Users Comes to Sleep HealthCenters in Weymouth
Date:6/17/2009

WEYMOUTH, Mass., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Registration is underway for the CPAP SUCCESS GROUP being held at the Sleep HealthCenter of Weymouth. Sessions begin on Monday, July 6 at 4PM at 541 Main Street in the Stetson Medical Building.

THE CPAP SUCCESS GROUP is designed to help struggling CPAP users become better accustomed to CPAP treatment. Attendees will learn how to use CPAP more easily and effectively by learning simple relaxation techniques that promote breathing normally during sleep.

"Every patient adapts to CPAP treatment at their own pace," explains Rick Clerici, Behavioral Sleep Specialist at Sleep HealthCenters. "We help people to develop a greater sense of control by teaching them to alter or diminish uncomfortable mask or strap sensations, phobic-like reactions and negative sleep habits and attitudes. The simple experience of group support is a wonderful part of the group's effectiveness."

Currently these groups are held in Brighton on alternating Wednesday evenings and will also be held in Weymouth on alternating Monday afternoons beginning July 6. Cost per session is $15.

Additionally, THE BETTER SLEEP SESSION is offered to provide information about sleep apnea and insomnia. Five secrets to better sleep are shared, as well as common habits that can stress sleep. Simple relaxation techniques are also taught. Questions are encouraged and the general public is welcome.

In addition to support groups, Sleep HealthCenters offers a wide range of behavioral therapies which includes sleep hygiene instruction, progressive relaxation, and counseling for weight management.

"We are pleased to be able to offer these groups at our Weymouth location," states Paul S. Valentine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sleep HealthCenters. "The expansion will give more patients the opportunity to improve their CPAP experience which will in turn improve their overall health. These group programs continue our effort to educate those with concerns about their sleep, following the introduction of our patient education website (www.sleepandyou.com) in April."
