Hearings Set for Monday as Part of Two-Year Democratic Process to Unite the Strength of California Long-Term Care Workers to Improve Their Lives and Better Serve Their Clients

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif., July 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A democratic process involving several SEIU local unions that began in 2006 continues Monday, July 14 with hearings to determine the best way to unite long-term care workers in California in order to have the greatest strength to win for their families and the clients they serve.

"Today's hearing is another step in a thorough, open, and democratic discussion to make sure that California long-term care workers have an effective voice on the job to improve quality care and working conditions," said SEIU spokesman Steve Trossman.

"Unfortunately, Sal Rosselli, the president of United Healthcare Workers - West, opposes the democratic process and wants to deny SEIU members the freedom to vote on these issues in a fair and impartial election," Trossman said. "He is afraid that a democratic vote may not go the way he wants."
