Hear the World Survey Reveals Growing Noise Pollution Affecting both Physical and Mental Health

Often neglected due to the stigma associated with the condition, hearing loss can create social and emotional barriers for the individuals living with it, or the families of those it affects. Research shows that when left untreated, hearing loss can lead to reduced earning power, disruptions in family life and can cause a wide range of other psychological problems.4

“The findings of the Hear the World survey emphasize a very important issue – which is that with today’s noisy environment, everyone needs to be proactive about preventing and/or managing their hearing loss,” said Valentin Chapero, CEO of Phonak. “The first step is to speak with your local hearing health professional about an annual hearing screening and how to protect yourself against excessive noise around you.”
