Healthentic Raises Funds to Support Seattle’s Homeless Population This Holiday Season
Date:12/28/2012

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) December 28, 2012

This year, the team at Healthentic will be participating in a charity drive to collect supplies which can be used to help support homeless communities in the Seattle area. Greater Seattle Cares has worked with Tent City 3 for more than seven years, acting as a channel for local communities to connect with the homeless initiative and provide daily essentials and facilitate transitioning to independent living.

“The reason we selected this organization is because of the valuable services they provide to those who are in need. Not only do they provide a safe place for people to stay, they also are one of the few safe places which allow families to stay together,” said Scott Purcell, a Healthentic employee.

Greater Seattle Cares provides a supporting network of individuals and community partners for the homeless community in Tent City 3. They help to coordinate food, clothing and other supplies as well as communicate the needs of these individuals to the surrounding area to facilitate opportunities and further the development of the initiative.

Suggested items for donation include:

  •      Sleeping bags and blankets (washable)
  •      Tents: 10’ x 12’, as durable as possible.
  •      Tarps, 12’ x 16’, extra heavy duty
  •      Scotchgard waterproofing for tents and jackets
  •      Wool socks, all sizes (wool stays warm even when wet)
  •      "Hotties" (hand and foot warmers)
  •      Batteries
  •      Children's Toys (all ages)

In addition to providing food and everyday supplies to Tent City 3, Greater Seattle Cares has recently initiated a program to begin supplying the homeless population in that community with emergency dental care and dentures.
