Healthcare researchers recognized at SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress 2012
Date:8/7/2012

Results of the highly anticipated Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Awards were announced at SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress 2012, held on 3 and 4 August 2012 at the Raffles City Convention Centre.

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress abstract awards recognise research excellence in basic, translational, clinical, evidence-based and health services and systems research. They encourage healthcare professionals from students and doctors to nurses and allied health professionals to pursue ideas and innovations that improve patient care.

This year, more than 500 submissions were whittled down to just 36 awards in 10 categories. The winning abstracts included a breakthrough treatment to combat post-surgical scarring in glaucoma patients, potential new biomarkers to help identify pregnant women at risk of pre-eclampsia and a study that looked at the impact of virtual reality rehabilitation as an adjunct to conventional therapy for people with sub-acute stroke.

"The SingHealth Duke-NUS joint Scientific Congress is an important platform for sharing ideas, innovations and discoveries as we come together to shape the future of medicine," said Professor Ivy Ng, Group Chief Executive Officer, SingHealth. "I congratulate all the winners on their fine work."
