Healthcare Online Regulations Discussed in Live Event and Webcast Hosted by Waggener Edstrom Worldwide
Date:2/9/2009

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Global multiservice public relations agency Waggener Edstrom Worldwide (WE) will present a live panel discussion titled "Healthcare Communications in the Digital World: Mitigating the Risks in a Highly Regulated Environment." The presentation will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 9 a.m. EST, at the company's Washington, D.C., office and be available via webcast at http://waggeneredstrom.com/reg/events/healthcare-webcast.aspx.

Interested parties can preregister for the live event or webcast at http://waggeneredstrom.com/reg/events/registrationwe.aspx.

Following the unprecedented use of social media throughout President Obama's campaign, the new administration will bring a fresh perspective to digital regulations for healthcare. Companies will need to become educated on how new regulatory policies will affect their online communications. As the administration and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) begin to review existing policy and move to create new guidelines, now is the time for pharmaceutical and biotech companies to learn how to effectively engage their audiences online to stay ahead of the competition.

The panel will focus on the regulatory concerns currently faced by pharmaceutical and biotech companies when engaging online. Presenters on the panel include the following:

    * Mark Gaydos, senior director, U.S. Regulatory Affairs Marketed
       Products, Sanofi-Aventis
    * Sanjay J. Koyani, director, Web Communications, FDA
    * Christina Pearson, former Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, U.S.
       Department of Health and Human Services
    * Jenny Moede, executive vice president, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide
       Healthcare
    *  David Almac
