Healthcare Informatics Associates, an InfoLogix Company, Selected by Hilo Medical Center for MEDITECH 6.0 EMR Implementation
Date:7/24/2009

HATBORO, Pa., July 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Healthcare Informatics Associates (HIA), an InfoLogix company (Nasdaq: IFLG), announced today that it has been selected by Hilo Medical Center (HMC) in Hilo, Hawaii for a multi-year engagement to implement a MEDITECH 6.0 EMR system across the East Hawaii Region facilities.

Hilo initially selected HIA among multiple competing vendors to help them navigate the many EMR options available in the marketplace and determine which was best suited as a fully-integrated clinical and revenue cycle EMR system. In addition to providing a single source for patient records and treatment, increasing patient safety, and more accurately capturing revenue, Hilo also had unique requirements such as the electronic capability to transfer patient records to referral facilities off the island.

After HIA successfully helped Hilo narrow 24 RFP responses to six vendor finalists, and then helped select MEDITECH as the best EMR provider for their unique requirements, Hilo also chose HIA for a multi-year engagement to provide the full system implementation. The three-phase project encompasses inpatient, advanced clinical support, outpatient clinics and physician offices -- all integrated and accessible into a single patient record, accessible on-demand by the caregiver at any location with Web connectivity.

HIA is on the leading-edge of organizations with the resources to implement and support MEDITECH 6.0., with a uniquely qualified team that includes registered nurses, pharmacists and clinicians that have performed multiple MEDITECH implementations over the past decade. In addition, based on HIA's experience with hundreds of successful EMR module implementations across a wide variety of healthcare organizations, HIA is also uniquely positioned to help Hilo achieve an implementation that will qualify for maximum ARRA Stimulus Funds.

"After looking closely at several potential implementation partners, it quickly became clear that nobody in the marketplace provides what the combination of InfoLogix and HIA does," says Money Atwal, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer of Hilo Medical Center. "From a single organization, we're able to achieve integrated expertise from project management, to clinical informatics, revenue cycle management, and beyond. And with RNs, pharmacists and clinicians on the team, HIA truly understands how to make an EMR implementation translate into better quality of care and business results."

"We're proud that Hilo Medical Center has selected HIA and InfoLogix for the largest IT project in their history," says Gerry Bartley, president of Healthcare Informatics Associates, an InfoLogix company. "Our goal is for Hilo's implementation to set the standard for what a state-of-the-art EMR implementation can deliver for a rural hospital -- in terms of patient safety, operational efficiency, and attracting the best physicians, nurses and professionals to the team."
