HealthTap Brings Real Time Disaster Relief for Those Impacted by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma
Date:9/12/2017

HealthTap, the world’s first Global Health Practice providing 24/7 immediate access to world-class care from a network of more than 100,000 doctors, is offering its HealthTap special SOS services, free to anyone impacted by Hurricane Harvey or Hurricane Irma.

Through HealthTap SOS, everyone in the impacted regions will now have free access to a week of primary care virtual consultations (via video, text or voice) with top doctors on HealthTap. Residents of the regions impacted by the hurricanes will also get special hurricane/severe weather related health tips at no charge. In order to ensure that everyone has access to medical care during this time of need, HealthTap has rallied thousands of top doctors to stand by ready to provide immediate care.

“Our hearts go out to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. These are tough times when basic access to everyday necessities and trusted immediate medical care can be hard to come by,” said Ron Gutman HealthTap founder and CEO. “Therefore, our top priority has become to secure immediate access to high-quality healthcare for everyone in need. It is a privilege to help those in need by deploying top medical talent and advanced technology to connect people to quality, trusted doctors at the time they need it most.”

HealthTap offers users trusted doctor knowledge that is personalized based on their individual medical history and experiences. Users get rapid answers from doctors across 141 specialties, 24/7 immediate access to physicians via video, voice, and text chat, and can access mental health counseling from psychiatrists and clinical psychologists. Users also receive customized health checklists created by their doctors, automated doctor health reminders (sent via email, SMS, push notification), and real-time alerts via the HealthTap app accessible from any mobile device or personal computer.

HealthTap SOS, HealthTap’s disaster relief service, originated in December 2015, when employees of the Fortune 500 company Flex, a customer of HealthTap, experienced severe flooding in Chennai, India. HealthTap worked with Flex to ensure that thousands of Flex employees and Chennai residents had immediate access to top doctor answers and safety tips about how to access clean water, how to stay hydrated when access to clean water was limited, and how to stay safe until physical resources became readily available and accessible. HealthTap SOS has since been deployed multiple times including during Hurricane Matthew and even in New Zealand.
