HealthPartners is National Benchmark in Six Out of Seven Areas in National Business Coalition on Health Report
Date:11/16/2007

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- HealthPartners is the top-performing health plan in the nation in six out of seven areas according to a newly released business report. The report, sponsored by the National Business Coalition on Health, is based on the eValue8 request for information tool. The tool is used by purchasers across the country and is sponsored locally by the Buyers Health Care Action Group, a coalition of private and public employers.

"I'd like to congratulate HealthPartners for their national leadership and for their support in our efforts to improve the quality and value of health care in Minnesota," said Carolyn Pare, Buyers Health Care Action Group CEO. This year, the NBCH/eValue8 report compared 102 health plans including HealthPartners, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota and Medica. HealthPartners achieved national benchmark status in the following areas:

Chronic disease management

Prevention and health promotion

Provider measurement

Consumer engagement

Behavioral health

Pharmaceutical management

Value-based purchasing

"While we're proud to earn this distinction, the real success lies in improving the care for our members and providing the best value for employers," said Andrea Walsh, HealthPartners executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Last month U.S.News & World Report/NCQA America's Best Health Plans (http://www.usnews.com) ranked HealthPartners among the top 50 best health plans in the U.S.

The eValue8 common Request for Information (RFI) tool is a product of the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH), a national, non-profit, membership organization of nearly 70 employer-based health care coalitions, representing over 10,000 employers across the United States.
