WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Health IT Now! Coalition applauds the House's important decision to allocate $20 billion of the $819 billion included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for incentives to promote the adoption of electronic medical records.
"We are thrilled by this outcome," Joel White, executive director of the Coalition said. "For over a year and a half the coalition has advocated for legislation with significant funding provisions and this is a great start."
"These funds to promote adoption of electronic medical records not only: enhance patient safety, improve health outcomes, and save lives, but by tying these funds to systems that are interoperable also allows these allocations to go a long way in modernizing health care delivery and support," White concluded.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act including these funding provisions passed through the House late Wednesday evening, and a similar stimulus package is quickly moving through the Senate.
