Health Briefs Features the Arkansas Healthy Employee Lifestyle Program
Date:5/4/2013

kansas Department of Health is excited to have the opportunity to work with Health Briefs highlighting the Arkansas Healthy Employee Lifestyle Program," said Katrina Betancourt, Worksite Wellness Section Chief with the Arkansas Department of Health. "There are roughly one million working adults in Arkansas of which approximately 73,000 are state employees. Educating the public on the importance of worksite wellness and health promotion interventions are critical to the health of our state."

"The U.S. is currently facing an epidemic of unhealthy lifestyles that contribute to risks of chronic diseases," said Dr. Ron Goodman, Senior Medical Producer for Health Briefs. "The Arkansas Healthy Employee Lifestyle Program is a great example of people working together to improve the health and well-being of employees and their families."

A similar program, the Community Healthy Employee Lifestyle Program (CHELP), was introduced in November 2012 to help those within communities and private industry to adopt healthy lifestyles.

The five-minute Health Briefs television segment will educate viewers on AHELP and CHELP, and the important roles these programs are playing in helping to improve the health of Arkansans.
