Healing Wounds and Hearts: Warrior Weekend Helps Soldiers and Marines Relax and Recover

NEWARK, Del., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to reach out to wounded soldiers and Marines, Retired Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Steve Udovich has organized "Warrior Weekend," a series of uplifting and rejuvenating weekend retreats – offered at no cost to injured soldiers and marines. The trips focus on rest and relaxation for soldiers and Marines hurt in Iraq and Afghanistan.

After suffering terrible wounds from combat with Islamic Terrorists, these brave men and women are now embarking on a long road of recovery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where they are encouraged to venture out of the hospital for various activities.  

Udovich was inspired to launch Warrior Weekend while visiting the medical center in 2006. "I decided that something had to be done to help them heal both physically and emotionally," Udovich explains. Since then, he has organized 21 successful trips to exciting destinations, including New York City, Washington, DC, Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach, Delaware and Baltimore, Maryland.  Five more weekends are slated for this year.
