"Our hospital is unique in the fact that we're staffed by former military servicepersons," said retired Colonel Harry Silsby, MD, medical director of Haven Behavioral War Heroes Hospital.  "Our programs are designed by experienced former military personnel and tailored to specifically treat the emotional damage of service."

Dr. Silsby, a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and Dr. Carrin Harper, a former Flight Commander at Malmstrom Air Force Base, lead the skilled team of nurses and medical professionals at Haven Behavioral War Heroes Hospital.  A majority of staff members are former military.

"Patients seeking a comprehensive approach to the treatment of combat-related emotional disorders will be hard-pressed to find a more qualified option than our hospital," adds Dr. Silsby.  "Our program was designed to treat the emotional damage of service and was truly created with America's finest in mind."

Treatment modalities for Haven Behavioral War Heroes Hospital's 28-day program include:  cognitive behavior therapy; cognitive processing therapy; prolonged exposure; individual and group therapy; family/marital therapy; medication management; detoxification; biofeedback and relaxation; 12-step chemical dependency/AA and NA; daily physical training and around the clock nursing supervision.

The hospital uses a comprehensive treatment approach through psycho-educational groups that address such issues as: intimacy, assertiveness training and survivor guilt.

"By utilizing supportive re-experience education and destigmatization, servicemen and women learn to relive and recover from traumatic experiences," adds Dr. Silsby.
