Hanna Boys Center Hosts Speaker Bertram Lubin, M.D.

Hanna Boys Center is thrilled to announce that Bertram Lubin, M.D., Associate Dean of Children’s Health UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, will be the keynote speaker at its next Professional Networking Breakfast on June 8, 2017. Dr. Lubin will speak about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), health and youth. Joining Dr. Lubin will be Dayna Long, M.D., of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and Barbie Robinson, M.P.P., J.D., Director of Health Services, Sonoma County. The breakfast will provide an opportunity for public education, healthcare and human services professionals—as well as others engaged in youth wellness, advocacy and education—to come together and network.

“We are elated to have someone of Dr. Lubin’s stature share with our community some of the scientific and pediatric research coming out of USCF and other pediatric health centers, which we hope will spawn new conversations and action here at Hanna Boys Center and beyond,” says Mary Kelly Persyn, director of the Hanna Institute. “In our community as we collectively work to heal trauma and build resilience, Hanna Institute is committed to bringing to the forefront leaders like the team on this breakfast series, which will focus on various aspects of health, youth and ACEs.”

About Bertram Lubin, M.D.
Bertram Lubin, M.D., joined Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland in 1973 as Chief of Hematology/Oncology. In 1984 he became the Director of Medical Research. Under his leadership, basic, clinical and translational research activities expanded. He transformed the small research program into a highly successful enterprise called Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI).

Dr. Lubin has served on numerous National Institutes of Health (NIH) committees, community based health consortia, and university panels across the United States. He has secured and directed NIH grants for over 40 years in a variety of areas. In 2009 Dr. Lubin was chosen to serve as the President & Chief Executive Officer of what became UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, until his appointment by the University of California San Francisco as Associate Dean of Children’s Health in 2016.

Dr. Lubin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, completed a residency in pediatrics at the Philadelphia Children’s Hospital, subspecialty training at Boston Children’s Hospital and was on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania as an Associate Professor for six years prior to his move to Children’s.
