Handbooks in Health Care Company Offers Full Line of Inexpensive Educational Pocket Books
Date:7/10/2008

With PhRMA© revising its marketing code, the Handbooks in Health Care Company is offering a full line of inexpensive educational pocket references written by experts in medicine.

Newtown, PA (PRWEB) July 10, 2008 -- Pharmaceutical companies will no longer offer pens, mousepads, or other nonconforming gifts adorned with company logos or product names to promote their drugs, according to new guidelines just adopted by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA©) Board of Directors.

The voluntary PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, which will take effect in January 2009, says that interactions between company representatives and healthcare professionals should be focused on informing healthcare professionals about products, providing scientific and educational information, and supporting medical research and education.

“Informative, ethical and professional relationships between healthcare providers and America’s pharmaceutical research companies are instrumental to effective patient care,” said Richard Clark, PhRMA Chairman and Chairman and CEO, Merck & Co., Inc. “We take this responsibility seriously and are constantly re-examining ways we can enhance these essential company-physician interactions and reinforce the integrity of information about our medicines.”

To fill the gap, publishing companies like Handbooks in Health Care Company, which is now celebrating its 30th anniversary, has a full line of PhRMA marketing code compliant educational pocket handbooks for physicians that are priced $19.95 each. “We believe our line of expert-authored, pocket-size handbooks offers true value for physicians and their patients,” says Scott Anzel, publisher and vice president, Handbooks in Health Care Company. “We publish medical handbooks written by top experts on a wide variety of clinical care topics, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, infectious diseases, urology, women’s health, psychiatry, and neurology, quickly and cost effectively.”
