Halleland Health Consulting Assists PBMs in Achieving URAC Accreditation for Pharmacy Benefit Management
Date:2/18/2008

Accreditation Demonstrates Commitment to Industry Best-Practices

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Halleland Health Consulting (HHC), an established national healthcare consulting practice, has developed a successful accreditation preparation program through which a PBM or Health Plan can demonstrate URAC-required excellence. URAC accreditation standards evaluate core organizational quality, customer service, communications and disclosure, pharmacy distribution channels, drug use management, formulary/P&T Committee, and drug therapy management.

In 2007, URAC began offering the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) Accreditation Program and the Drug Therapy Management Accreditation Program. Industry feedback indicates that URAC accreditation is becoming a standard for purchasers and benefit consultants by demonstrating that companies have achieved organizational excellence and validating their commitment to quality and accountability.

Teaming with HHC, Prescription Solutions -- an innovative leader in the PBM industry -- became one of the first companies to achieve both the PBM and Drug Therapy Management accreditations. HHC stands ready to apply this proven model to other PBMs interested in achieving URAC accreditation.
