Haemonetics Bolsters Blood Bank Information Management Portfolio With Acquisition of Altivation Software

BRAINTREE, Mass. and CHICO, Calif., April 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Haemonetics Corporation (NYSE: HAE), a global blood management solutions company, today announced that it has acquired Altivation Software, a privately held information management company. Altivation provides resource management software for the blood banking industry.

Altivation markets Hemasphere, a real-time database which provides a dashboard of operational information to blood center management and which automates resource and sponsor management of blood drives. The Hemasphere information management suite includes software for: blood drive calendar and scheduling; account and blood drive sponsor management; logistics planning and task tracking; chairperson and coordinator management; staff and volunteer scheduling and tracking; comprehensive statistics and reporting; and service history and recognition tracking.

A majority of the blood collected worldwide is collected at mobile blood drives versus on site at the blood center. Integrated software systems to manage these blood drives are an important part of blood center management.

Brian Concannon, Haemonetics' CEO, said, "Altivation is a strong addition as we execute our vision as the global leader in blood management solutions for our customers. The Hemasphere software application complements our existing platforms and adds resources for management of mobile blood drives, a critical part of blood collection."

Michael Reale, President and CEO of Altivation Software, said, "Altivation is an industry leader in the U.S. for blood resource management software. As a result of our combination with Haemonetics Software Solutions business, our U.S. marketing is strengthened and we can expand further into global markets. We are pleased to be joining Haemonetics and adding to its portfolio of software applications for improving blood management throughout the entire supply chain continuum."
