HMS Donates Hospital Art

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthcare Management Systems, Inc.(R) (HMS) hospital customers completed three paintings during HMS' annual conference in October, and attendees who painted were entered into a drawing to receive the paintings to keep at their own facilities or donate to another hospital. Recipients of the 4-foot by 6-foot, multiple-canvas paintings were announced on Friday, October 17, during the closing session of HMS' annual conference.

    HMS will donate...
    -- Multiple fish-themed painting -- Five Rivers Medical Center,
       Pocahontas, Ark.
    -- Frog-themed painting -- Focus by the Sea, St. Simons Island, Ga.
    -- Seahorse-themed painting -- Tri-Valley Health System, Cambridge, Neb.

Over 100 conference attendees worked to complete the paint-by-color creations of the Foundation for Hospital Art, which works closely with hospital and health systems around the country to promote art for patient healing.

"This was a unique opportunity for our customers to participate in a fun activity that will benefit patients and their families," said Tom Stephenson, president and chief executive officer of HMS. "HMS is pleased to have been able to work with The Foundation for Hospital Art on this project."

The Foundation for Hospital Art is a non-profit organization dedicated to comforting people in hospitals and nursing homes. The Foundation's mission has reached 188 countries, with over 30,000 paintings in over 1,500 hospitals. The Foundation's quest is to donate at least one painting to every hospital on Earth.
