HMP Communications Holdings, LLC, a leader in healthcare communications and education, is proud to announce the acquisition of Wound Certification Prep Course (WCPC), an in-depth, two-day preparatory course for clinicians interested in preparing for the wound certification board examinations, becoming re-certified, or gaining a better understanding of wound care.

Recently acknowledged by the American Board of Wound Management Foundation (ABWMF) as the “recommended review course” for clinicians planning to take the CWSP®, CWS®, or CWCA® certifications, WCPC training will be offered in ten cities in 2014, providing wound care professionals nationwide access to the live course. The dates and locations for 2014 include:

  •     Austin, TX – March 22-23, 2014
  •     Orlando, FL – April 22-23, 2014
  •     Philadelphia, PA – May 17-18, 2014
  •     Chicago, IL – May 31 - June 1, 2014
  •     Anaheim, CA – June 6-7, 2014
  •     Long Island, NY – September 13-14, 2014
  •     Cincinnati, OH – September 27-28, 2014
  •     Las Vegas, NV – October 14-15, 2014
  •     Washington, DC – October 25-26, 2014
  •     Atlanta, GA – November 22-23, 2014

“Wound Certification Prep Course, when combined with our Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) national conferences, print and digital wound care journals, and Wound Clinic Business meetings, further solidifies our position as the undisputed global leader in wound care education,” said Jeff Hennessy, chairman and chief executive officer, HMP Communications Holdings. “WCPC’s reputation, along with the wound care acumen of its instructors, positions the course as the most advanced, comprehensive review of wound management available.”

Established in 2005 by Greg Patterson, MD, FACS, CWS, Pamela Scarborough, PT, DPT, MS, CDE, CWS, CEEAA, and Dot Weir, RN, CWON, CWS, the course has long served as a benchmark in live wound care education. The acquisition and subsequent expansion of the program will provide the wound care community greater access to these key thought leaders and their team of educators.

“Under the management of HMP and its subsidiaries, this course will be taken to new levels, to serve more people who want to either prepare for their wound board certifications or use the course as a tool to get them up to speed on current evidence-based wound care practices,” said Ms. Scarborough. “Ultimately, we hope WCPC attendees leave the course with the tools to better serve their patients and the facilities in which they work.”
